These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the XPSLab web application at app.xpslab.com, operated by XPSLab ("we", "our", "us"). By using XPSLab, you agree to these Terms.

1. Account Registration

You must create an account to use XPSLab. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use XPSLab only for lawful purposes. You may not: attempt unauthorized access to the service; use it to store or transmit malicious code; interfere with or disrupt the service; reverse-engineer any part of the service; or use automated systems to access it without permission.

3. Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you upload or create in XPSLab. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your data. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the service.

4. Service Availability

We strive to keep XPSLab available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability.

5. Data Backup

While we take measures to protect your data, we recommend maintaining your own backups. We are not liable for any loss of data. You may export your projects at any time using the built-in export features.

6. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Account settings. All your data will be permanently removed. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

XPSLab is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. You are responsible for verifying the correctness of any scientific results produced by the application.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, XPSLab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages including loss of data or profits.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

XPSLab ("we", "our", "us") operates app.xpslab.com. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: Email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture. Project data: XPS spectra, fitting parameters, and other scientific data you upload. Usage data: Anonymous statistics via Google Analytics — no personally identifiable information is sent.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the service; authenticate your identity; synchronize your project data; send service-related communications; and understand how the application is used.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers provided by DigitalOcean and Supabase. We use TLS/SSL encryption for data in transit. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with service providers (Supabase, DigitalOcean, Google) and when required by law.

5. Your Rights

You may access and update your profile, export your project data, and delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account settings page.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage to maintain your authentication session and preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

XPSLab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
